2025 Kia EV Day Recap

The 2025 Kia EV Day showcased Kia’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup, focusing on affordability and innovation. Key highlights included the introduction of the EV3 hatch and EV4 sedan, designed to make electric mobility accessible to a broader audience. Casey Kia takes a closer look at these exciting developments.
Kia EV Day Overview
Kia EV Day is an annual event where Kia showcases its latest electric vehicles (EVs). This year’s event took place on February 27th at the Tarraco Arena in Tarragona, Spain. They debuted three new Kia models, including the Kia EV4, Kia PV5, and the Kia EV2 concept.
Commitment to an Electrified Future
These new EVs are part of Kia’s Plan S electrification and mobility strategy, a plan to shift towards more electric and autonomous vehicles, rather than vehicles powered by an internal combustion engine. Kia has 10 hybrid and battery-electric vehicles available in the U.S. alone.
New EV Technology
Instead of the current 800 V technology, these new EVs are built with a 400 V architecture, which gives them a slower charging time. They still charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. Ho Sung Song, the Kia Motors CEO and President, said, “We’re moving toward practical, affordable cars versus faster charging.”
Kia EV4
The Kia EV4 is the first all-electric Kia sedan. It boasts a low center of gravity and lightweight and aerodynamic design, which enhances its exciting electric performance. It will also be available as a hatchback, although only the sedan will be available in the U.S.
Kia EV2 Concept
The Kia EV2 concept is a compact SUV that is easily maneuverable and fun to drive. It features a unique design with coach doors and high-tech seats inside. Currently, there aren’t plans to release it in America.
Kia PV5
Kia also plans to launch a Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup starting with the Kia PV5. It’s an all-electric modular van that will be available in four variants: cargo, passenger, crew, and wheelchair-accessible. There also aren’t currently plans to release it in America.
